Within the vicinity of the United States' Virgin Island, there are two main operating airports. The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, located in St. Croix and the Cyril E. King Airport, situated west of St Thomas. Cyril E. King is the official name of St. Thomas airport. Both these airports have direct, connecting flights from Caribbean airports, as well as flights from the United States and other international Airport.
St Thomas airport is merely 3 kilometers west of the focal business district, the Charlotte Amalie. Statistically, the airport stands to be the busiest airport in U.S.A's Virgin Islands. In just a year in Feburary of 2012, it had carried up to a whooping 1,215,000 passengers.
From the airport into St Thomas
Through one of the 11 terminal gates of the St Thomas Airport, your way into the city can very much be covered with a rented car. It is true that you can take taxis or buses, but taxis are mostly shared in St. Thomas. And even though the fares are moderate, not too friendly, there is tip to be paid to the drivers. For that, car hires are a better choice for most visitors.
