Bradford, in itself, is not necessarily the most popular location for tourists to visit. However, its proximity to most impressive cities across England makes for an incredible start to a road journey. Even if you are interested in staying in the city itself, you will still find many chances to find excitement and entertainment within the city of Bradford. This city is one of the most well preserved medieval cities in England, largely unchanged since its founding.
The Old and New Side by Side
One of the oldest surviving buildings from the Middle Ages that is not a church can be found in Bradford. The building of Bolling Hall is a fascinating building that is now a museum. Largely unchanged from its initial building, the building stands down cramped streets, a neighbor that has only seen a small amount of modernization since the Middle Ages. This structure has been converted into a museum showing what life was typically like during this period in England. On the other side of the city is the modern National Media Museum. This museum shows the history of the news media, film and television. As a research institution, it provides tours and discussions of the impact that the media have had on Britain and world culture, well beyond the influential role of the BBC.
Just Down the Road, the Grass is Greener
Not far from the City of Bradford is the City of Leeds. Leeds is one of the most bustling cities in Britain. As a fast growing city, it is well worth a short drive from Bradford in order to properly experience this vast city. This city is located very close to the water and is typically considered one of the largest opportunities for young people to explore and have fun. The other opportunity for travel in the area is near the city of Wakefield. As both these famous cities are within an hour drive, it is highly recommended to car hire and therefore travel to these larger cities.
Though Bradford is a bustling city in its own right, it is a wasted opportunity to not car hire. The nearby cities give an exciting opportunity to explore beyond the city of the Bradford. The locations within the city can only really be accessed from a car, making a car hire a requirement for both Bradford and the nearby cities of Leeds and Wakefield, making an amicable drive readily accomplished.
