Things to Do in Dakar
Dakar is definitely a beautiful place to be in as a tourist. Tucked along the Peninsula of Cap-vert it is a blend of local villages and colonial towns that were once dwelt by the French. - Village the Arts- anyone who fancies a day spent in the art would definitely love this place. This is one of the best art complexes in Senegal which houses artistic works from established Senegalese photographers and sculptors. - The Medina- this is the place to be to quench all your shopping desires. It is a busy street filled with life and several tailor shops where you can buy some of Senegal’s fine tailored clothes. What you also don’t know is that Medina was the birth place of Senegal’s celebrity Youssou N’Dour.
- Layen Mausoleum- a drive down to Yoff Village, in your car hire, will definitely be worth it to view the great Layen Mausoleum. This is a shrine that immortalizes the great founder of the Layen Muslims. One thing you need to know is that Yoff is strict Islamic town and you may need to dress decently (clothes not revealing) to enter the town and access the mausoleum. Drinking and smoking is prohibited in the town as well.
