As a former capital city of Kazakhstan, Almaty is a highly developed city and still boasts of being the country’s largest city even despite being stripped off of its capital status. Today, the city serves as the cultural and financial heart of Central Asia.

- Kazakhstan English Language Theater: every year, there are two shows held at the theater and English workshops and classes are run here and it is a place that you should visit.
- Presidential Palace: of course just like other places of this nature, the officials will not allow you to go inside. But the architecture and sceneries are breathtaking and you might be lucky to see the president there.
- Heroes Memorial Park: this memorial park was built to honor the Kazakhstan men who died fighting the Nazi fascism during World War II. An Orthodox Church as built at the park and beautiful singing can be heard from the church.
- National Museum: this blue roofed building is located just opposite to the Presidential Palace. Here, you will find Kazakh history well displayed and guided tours are available at the museum.
- New Square/ Republic Square: this is the former administrative center of the government and even though Astana is the new capital now, the building has been well renovated. Some buildings are occupied by TV stations and you will also find flower gardens as well as the Kazakh memorial as well.
- Chocolate factory: it is possible to have some organized tours at the factory.
Besides these attractions, there are also many other things that you can do as well in Almaty. For instance skating at the Medeo stadium, snowboarding or skiing at the Tabagan ski resort is something that you can never get enough of.
