Before you embark on your tour of sites around the Rimini railway station, pay a visit to the Tourist Information Office which is excellent with all kinds of information that any visitor would require. It is also a multi-lingual office so be assured you will get assistance.
The Beach
Rimini has some 15 km of nice beach along the coastal strip. Though sort of crowded during the summer, towards the start of September, it normally has fewer persons around, has more private space and the beaches are easily accessed by a car hire.
Historical centers
Not very far from Rimini railway station are numerous historical places of interest. For example, the Sigismondo Malatesta has been transformed into a real monument. A quick visit by a hired car to the Arco d’Augusto and you are staring at what is thought to be the oldest surviving Roman Arch anywhere in the world. You would also be viewing at the exact spot where the two chief roads during the Roman Empire actually converged – Via Emilia (E-W) and the Via Flaminia (N-S).
Bridge of Tiberius
This Bridge was erected about 2,000 years ago; and in spite of the constant ravages of bombing and war it still remains standing erect up to the present day. Adjacent to the Ponte di Tiberio, again a distance that can be easily covered by car hire is a neighborhood that has incredibly colorful buildings, narrow and small paths with amazing wall paintings.
Italia Miniature
An excursion to Italia in Miniature should be put on the family schedule. It is easily reachable from Rimini train station by boarding a bus to the Miniature. Another notable and worthy place to visit is the Four Horses Fountain. This fountain was inaugurated in June 1928. The Lighthouse is another great place and is one of 3 identified lighthouses selected for renovation with EU funds. The Big Camera is very impressive and was originally constructed in 1948 as a photographer's shop though it was refurbished in 2002 by the municipal authorities
Dolphinaium
In case the traveling party has children, this is one activity or venue which will be both suitable for grownups and the young ones. Another useful and interesting site to visit is the San Marino. You could either take a bus or opt for the more comfortable car hire. Do not forget to have sometime set aside for a rip with your car hire to the Harbor where you can watch local fishing boats as they come and go plus as they sell of their catch.
