Lamborghini Reventon : A $2 Million Supercar

Posted 25 January 2015 by

With a price tag of nearly two million dollars, the Lamborghini Reventon is easily one of the most expensive cars from the Lamborghini stables, if not in the whole world. The Lamborghini Reventon was unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the popular Italian sports car manufacturer claiming this supercar was inspired, design-wise, by the world’s fastest airplanes, and the mechanical elements and interior by the Murciélago LP640.

The Murciélago LP640 is the main inspiration of the roadster version of the Lamborghini Reventon, which was unveiled two years later in the same motor show in Frankfurt. The original supercar design boasts of a very futuristic, fighter jet-like design, but the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster is definitely more street-friendly.

The Lamborghini Reventon is art on wheels, but do not let the ultra-stylish exterior fool you into believing that it will not perform well on the streets. It has a 6.0 litre V12 engine that can deliver up to 650 horsepower and navigate the highways with a six-speed e-transmission and a complementary six-speed manual transmission.

Following Lamborghini’s tradition in naming cars, the Reventon is named after a fighting bull raised by the renowned Don Heriberto Rodriguez. Reventon, which means a small burst or explosion in Spanish, is very apt for this gorgeous, powerful machine. When you are driving the Lamborghini Reventon on the roads, you can be assured for these explosions of power that will surely turn heads, and leave them turned, as you roar by. This is also in part of the exterior made of a newly developed carbon fibre material, which comes off as a slightly translucent material with a matte finish.

The interior is a thing of beauty as well, with three LCDs offering two display modes; these screens are mounted on a structure sculpted from one solid block of aluminum, covered by this innovative carbon fibre casing also found on the exteriors. And then there is the g-force meter that calls to mind a jet fighter, and you can easily check the g-force magnitude and direction as experienced and encounter by the car.

The Lamborghini Reventon drives very much like the Murciélago, and with the same paddle-shift gearbox, twisting and turning while going fast can be a breeze. Driving the Reventon is very much like having a compact jet fighter on your command, but of course, you only have the road to soar through. The drive is very stable and firm, though the built-in seats, while slightly comfy when you first slide into them, can be a bit hard on your derriere when you drive for a longer time.

The Lamborghini Reventon is a limited edition supercar, and production is only limited to twenty units, plus the one dedicated for display in a museum. If you want one of your own, you might want to wait for one of the Reventon’s previous owners to let go, or if you are like us, you might want to wait for the next thing that Lamborghini will unveil. We are optimists, so we believe the next Lamborghini supercar will be perfect.
